Where the pre-sell video fits
The video usually sits after initial interest and before the calendar, or on the confirmation page after booking. In both positions it reduces the amount of basic context that must be handled live.
If the offer is simple and familiar, video may be unnecessary. Use it when explanation, trust, or differentiation actually benefits from hearing the message in sequence.
A practical pre-sell video outline
- Open with relevance. Confirm who the message is for and the problem it addresses.
- Describe the problem clearly. Show that you understand the situation without exaggerating it.
- Explain the mechanism. Introduce the reasoning behind your approach and why it differs from common alternatives.
- Set fit boundaries. Say who tends to benefit and who should choose another path.
- Use evidence responsibly. Include examples, proof, demonstrations, or process evidence you can substantiate.
- Explain the next step. Tell viewers what the call is for and how to prepare.
How long should a pre-sell video be?
There is no universal runtime. The right question is whether the video earns each minute. A short offer with a familiar problem may need only a few minutes. A more complex mechanism may need more explanation.
Remove repeated claims, long founder biographies, generic motivation, and feature lists that do not help the viewer decide whether the next step fits.
Before booking or after booking?
Before booking: best when the prospect needs context before deciding whether to give you time.
After booking: best when the appointment is easy to earn but the prospect needs preparation before the meeting.
You can also use a shorter version before booking and deeper preparation after booking.
Common pre-sell video mistakes
- Starting with a long introduction instead of the prospect's situation.
- Making unsupported claims or implying guaranteed outcomes.
- Explaining every feature instead of the buying logic.
- Using jargon the viewer has not learned yet.
- Ending without a clear next action.
- Hiding basic fit requirements until the call.
